Default How can I get better MPG?

I have a 2007 Accord 2.4 Coupe. I can only go about 450 miles on a full tank of gas and if it's true that the tank is 17.5 gallons, that means that I am averaging about 26 mpg. The car is said to have an EPA rating of 26/34 highway. I drive about 50/50 and have a very light foot, so I don't get why I can't at least get 30 mpg. Can anyone help???

You have to consider the crap gas we are getting these days. When I first got my wagon, it would get around 27. I was reduced down to 23 on a healthy engine when it was running awesome. I have also been told that winter gas isn't that awesome either.

Terrain you drive in?? If you're in the mountains, it doesn't matter how gentle you are on the go pedal.

Winter-blend gas has less energy per gallon.
Do you idle the car to warm it up?
Tire pressure?
Dragging brakes?

Finally, don't go by the fuel gauge. Fill it up, zero the odometer. Then next time you fill, take actual miles and actual gallons.
