lifter noise at idle. worry?
94 accord 2.2 vtec.
dont know for sure but think and was told it was a lifter ticking. when the car is idling i can hear a tick tick tick. not overly loud, but definetly noticable. seems to go away / fade out when throttle is given ( sitting still and driving ). is this something to worry about? is it a lifter? common honda thing? car has 134,000 miles
thanks for any info

At the end of 1991, I went to various dealers to help my wife pick a new car. We checked out the Camry andAltima, too. Our Accord was by farthe noisiest of the three and remains that way to this day. Compared to the quietness ofsome of today's new engines, one might think it's a diesel! The interesting thing is that our noisycar might very well out-liveall of those new cars with their fancy, hi-tech, fuel-efficient, EXPENSIVE engines.

RE: lifter noise at idle. worry?
i appreciate the posts and info guys. so the car has lifters, just not the sort of lifters i was thinking. are they replaceable? if that is what it is, is it a concern?
several others have made comments of just how noisy a 4 cyl honda really is. i just feel the tick sound shouldnt be there.
if it needed a valve adjustment, would it more constant noise rather than a tick - tick - tick ?
