Default n00b to hondas - tranny quest.

So how smooth are the tranny's supposed to shift? I just got my 97 lxyesterday with just under 60k original miles on the clock and to me it feels rough or something whileshifting. Thinking I should probably do a fluid change but just wondering what the characteristics of these trannys are.

thanks

My '95 shifts pretty hard sometimes. Try a trans fluid change like you stated above. I haven't gotten around to changing the fluid in my 95 yet, but I need to.

Automatic tranny, right?

People have said the shifting gets harsh if you use non-Genuine-Honda ATF in the tranny. Remember that the torque converter doesn't drain so you only get about 1/3 of the fluid. If it's bad, then do 3 ATF changes with some driving around inbetween.

If you're talking about rough action in the shift lever of a manual tranny, that's a completely different animal.
