Rev-matching when you UPshift is sorta about timing. Take too long to shift & the engine spins down so the rpm is too low. Then you have to blip the throttle a little bit to match, sorta like during a downshift, but not as much.
Exactly, when are in first and you rev up to 5k, you pop it into second, but before you let the clutch out you wait for the tach to drop down to 3k or so. Technically it is rev-matching...

Aite so i guess ill just have to practice more . Another question though this may sound stupid but what way do u guys press the clutch in. I kinda keep my heel on the ground and pivot it but that sometimes makes me leave the clutch in too long. Is there multiple ways to do it or like a correct way?

If I'm just cruising I roll the foot on the heel. If I'm downshifting or doing hard acceleration I have my foot off the floor so I can "finesse" it more.

Yeah, what he^^ said...

Different ways, you gotta find out what works best for your shoes & your favorite position of the drivers seat.

^ I guess I just would have never thought someone that knew how to rev match would shift that slow haha
There's another way to do/think of it. Lift the throttle to shift; & after shifting you have to engage the clutch & roll back into the gas. You do both ofthosealmost at the same time.

Depending on YOUR timing & the engine'scoastdown, you get back on the gas a tiny bit earlier or later. Practice practice.

One thing that still gets ME is the AC. Depending on whether the AC compressor is clutched in or out during the shift, that can cause the engine to spin down tolower RPM, more quickly. It's more difficult to upshift smoothly with AC on because your timing is different with AC clutch on vs. off.

If you really want to feel "attached" to the car, try driving it barefoot.

I guess I don't pay much attention to where I keep my left foot. I can't really think of how I do it right now. I'll see at lunch when I drive it.

Right now im driving the Mini Cooper everyday and its a manual so it's more fun than the accord... for now... and it all depends on how u like to drive... try hitting the gas, and just when your about to shift, let go off the gas and gently press the clutch and shift. then slowly let go off the clutch and at the same time, hit gas gradually...
it's like voltage and amperage: more voltage = lower amperage and viceversa...

you know what else... don't watch fast and furious before you drive... that's not the way to shift in a daily driver... just so you know...
good luck! grasshopper... j/k

Yeah I guess I've been driving a manual trans for too long. I guess I don't really realize I do that. I noticed myself doing it today. On the rare occasion that I miss a gear, the engine revs like crazy from me unconsciously pressing the gas right before I disengage the clutch.I don't notice it because it all happens in probably less than one second.

I was talking about getting back on the gas just before you engage the clutch. That's when you rev-match.

You do know that you press the pedalIN to DISengage, right?
