Default Rear balance shaft gear timing '01 Accord 2.3

I'm working on an '01 Accord w/ a 2.3, and want to verify the correct procedure for getting the correct gear timing on the rear balance shaft. I've already removed the bolt from the access port and have a 1/4" shaft in place locking the shaft in position, but I'm not sure which groove on the pulley lines up to the marks. I'm thinking that the groove with the "v" cut (as opposed to any of the other shallow rounded grooves) lines up with the left mark above the pulley, then as it is pushed flush and the gears mesh and the pulley rotates slightly clockwise it will now line up with the right mark above the pulley. Is this correct? Also, is the position of the rear balance shaft with the locking bolt in place the same position it will be in when installing the balance shaft belt?
