Look up the K series engines on Wikipedia. All K24's use the same lower half of the engine, the part with the pistons in it. The differences are the heads. An A2 head allows a rev to 8200 rpm I think and puts out 200 HP on the K20. On a K24 it won't be able to rev as high due to the longer stroke .... higher max piston speed per rpm, but it will make a whole lot more power than you have now. Also, it will rev up faster.

Junkyards are a great place to start, sometimes you can find them on craigslist or forums (a civic forum would be a good bet, they love the K series). And yes you can buy just the head.

People still total brand new cars... its possible, but they would be gone in a snap... people hunt the junkyards like vultures around here... I'd be lucky to find any K or H parts at the yard.

Hopefully not since you already have a K engine in your car... I'm not the best with head swaps.
