Default Transmission Replace!

I want to do a transmission replacement because i have a Automatic Transmission and I was wondering if i could possibly Put a 6-Speed into a 2003 Accord coupe I4? or should i just stick with the 5-Speed manual? Can someone please give me ideas or prices to how much and how long it is going to take? Do i need to change the ECU?

I don't know of any 6 speed tranny's for that car but they might have one.... I don't think you really need it though.... as for the ECU I don't believe you have to swap that (could be wrong don't recall) but you do need, new axles, tranny mounts, linkage, center console, stickshift... Time depends on you but if you're somewhat mechanically inclined and have all the parts there I would you think you can do it in 8-12 hours

bad sirnasty...

the RSX Type-R and the JDM Integra DC5 Trannys are both 6 speed manuals.. and are direct bolt up to our cars for me the 5 speed is amazingly perky... a 6 speed just seems like alot of shifting but every once in a while i will be in 5th and go for a 6th and be sad then i hit reverse and all hell breaks loose...

anyway like i said get one of those... they work... get a V6 6 speed shifter... (so it looks good) and be happy

(as a notice all k series trannys a HORRIDLY WEEEEEEEEAK... im at 64k and 3 syncros are blow to hell... (as a notice to that notice i drive pretty agressivly so yeh) but drfinately if your just gunna buy a tranny... before ya put it in... take it to a cryo shop and get it iced... then replace all syncros and completely rebuild the damn thing... and a stage 2 organic clutch )

does the K24 even have enough umph to drive a 6th gear? it's down at least 40hp versus the car that the 6spd comes out of

umph? dood the K24A4 is way under rated... my fat *** accord has beat a Integra Type -R (yeh driver is a factor but still)

the K24 has more torque than a K20A2 so yeh it would be able blast threw 6th... i can drive around town in 5th and get up to highway speeds in no time...

so as a end to this... yes the K24A2 would burn threw 6 gears... (and the TSX engine would SERIOUSLY have enough power to push a 6th gear)

K24 isn't that fast.......I could take then in my '98 from a stop and a roll there is a large difference in the output of the K24 in the acura versus the one inthe accord

TSX output for 2007

Horsepower 205 @ 7000 RPM
Torque (lb-ft) 164 @ 4500 RPM

2007 Accord I4

Horsepower 166 @ 5800 RPM
Torque (lb-ft) 160 @ 4000 RPM

Problem is you might lug the K24 in the accord when cruising. It would be better to swap in the 5spd manual tha already can be had for that car. not to mention it would most likely be cheaper....
