Trqanny oil, egr port cleaning 97 accord SE
This forums are great and helped a lot to understand the car better.
I just bought 97 accord SE with about 184000 miles on it. just started to do some tune up. changed spark-plug and wires. replace the valve cover gasket. Have change the timing belt and balancer belt(was never replaced before) at local shop.
Just two question about tramsmission oil and EGR port cleaning.
I just changed my transmission oil with volvoline max life. When I was reading Honda owner manual it says only to use Honda oil. is that true. Is anybody has used any other oil than Honda. I have changed old fluid twice in a week. both time there was lots of dust kind material was stuck on the drain bolt nagnet. Planning on doing third refill in a day or two. I still want you guys to give me some opinion about this.
In do it yourself section there is a procedure to clean the
EGR ports. when you do cleaning what happens to the debris fall into the hole. Does it needs to be vaccum out or any other method need to be used so the debris do not fall into the hole. Any response will be appericiated.

hey i have a 01 accord v6 ex. and i only use honda recommended tranny oil. which you could get at any honda dealership. it is a bit pricy for a quart but worth it. and for regular engine oil i use mobil 1 full syndetic oil.

I would stick with Honda fluid only. I just bought some and need to change my fluid as well. It is $5.75 /qt which is outrageous. But I would pay more for the good stuff then pay for a $3,000 ish tranny.
