01 LX Blower Fan Noise
The blower motor on my 01 LX has started to squeel recently. It will only make the noise for about 15 seconds, and only when it is cold outside/inside the car. On a warm day, no noise.
Question: I'm assuming this is a bearing noise. Can this be eliminated by lubricating the fan bearing in some way??
Thanks!

I believe the motor is a sealed unit with no serviceable parts inside. If it is the bearing or the shaft you could try and put a couple of drops of light oil where the shaft enters the housing. This would probably be a fairly short term fix. Here is a diagram of the blower housing. The motor alone is about $130. Make sure it is the motor and not something else like the fan hitting something. The motors usually last for a long time.
here is a link to a website that shows the exploded view of the blower assy. It has prices as well.

RE: 01 LX Blower Fan Noise
The squealing is the armature rubbing against the permanent magnet field housing. The squealingmeans the bearing (oiled bronze bushing) is worn or the bushing mount is loose. These motors are not repairable. I tried and failed, and certainly not worth the effort.
It won't get better so locate a replacement part and be ready.
