01 LX CD player problem
All of a sudden, my CD player will not play a disc. (2001 LX, single disc player in factory radio).
It sucks into the player just fine, but then the player just ejects it right back out. Tried several discs...same story. No error codes on screen.
Any easy things to check or fix here, or is this an expensive dealer-fix situation??
thanks in advance.

RE: 01 LX CD player problem
it sounds like the loading mechanism has developed a fault. does the CD go all the way in so you can't see it anymore? if it doesn't, can you take something to push it further in as the CD loads(what do you have to loose if it stopped loading the CD anyway?) if it starts to work again, see how long it lasts. if it refuses to work again, consider replacing it. it's a pita to tear that one apart.
that audio unit is expensive new, about $160 to send out for repair(plus 3 weeks or so without a radio)and about $50-$100 used on ebay.

Yes, the disc goes all the way into the unit as intended. Then, after about 15 seconds, it spits it right back out. If you do nothing at this point, and wait...it sucks it back in automatically, and the cycle starts over again.
...nothing simple to tryhere I assume?

no, doesn't sound like it. unless someone stuck a coin in there or something. you can try and remove it and tear it apart or rattle it listening for something. otherwise....it's up to you what to do about it.

RE: 01 LX CD player problem
well, i don't know. the repair cost is $160 at the dealer(my dealer). we send it out to the manufacturer for that. since your doing the pulling and installingyou save there.
if you remove it- it might tell you the manufacturer or something on the back, i'm not sure. if that's the case you can call them and ask for a repairquote. i have an 04 civic radio on my shelf and it doesn't tell me who made it, but i have seen Pioneer stamped on several labels(i can't remember what years/models though)
