Default 03 accord v6 transmission, Have i just bought a time bomb?

I have owned a 91 civic, 93 civic and 92 accord that were the greatest cars Ive ever owned. In augustI bought an 03 accord coupe v6 automatic without doing any prior research soley on my experience with my other hondas. It has 69,000 miles, runs great andI love it but after reading all the horror stories about that years transmission problems Im wondering if I made a mistake buying this model. Is ther anyone out there with some good experiences with this model year?

I personally have heard the 6th generation (98-02) had the bad transmissions. You have the 7th generation so I wouldn't worry, but make sure to always get your transmission serviced at a Honda Dealer.

it's kind of a gamble because it's either you have a good one or a bad one. Not trying to discourage you on your purchase, but I have heard from multiple people about tranny failure from both 6th and 7th gen.
Honda said the tranny problem was fixed on the 2002 models, but I had to replaced mines at 66k and I have the 02 model.
If Honda said that the 7th gen models have the corrected the tranny problems on the 7th gen, mostly it's not.

Best bet is to put on a tranny cooler. It's cheap enough and will extend the life of any auto tranny.

How much would it cost me to put in a tranny cooler a 97 accord and a 01 accord?

about $50 if you do it yourself. $100 if you have someone do it for you

Wow thats really reasonable. Think I'll get it for the 01 accord first. Don't want the recalled tranny to break like the stock one did.

i agree with the comment that most of the tranny issues were in the 6th gen. i wouldnt worry about it.
