Default 06 EX 30,000 mi Maintenance

OK, Newbie here but I have been reading.
What should I do for the 30,000 mile maintenance?
[ul][*]Engine Oil & Filter[*]Air Filter[*]Cabin Filter[*]Rotate tires[*]Auto Transmission Fluid - Honda ATF - I am assumming that there is a drain plug on the bottom and a fill plug higher up? Any suggestions?[*]Should I change the brake fluid? Honda brake fluid or generic? Do I bleed it out of the brake calipers and refill small amounts at a time? Any suggestions?[/ul]
Am I missing anything?

Thanks

Brake fluid and p/s fluid would probably be a good idea. If you search the forum, there should be some good infos on how to do both. I personally let the dealer do it, 50.00 or so for the brake and p/s fluid.

Thanks for your response. I did not realize that changing the power steering fluid is part of the 30,000 mi. maintenance.

I wish my local dealer would change the brake and p/s fluid for $50.00. They wanted around $260.00 for the service including oil and atf.

yeah, do those things, but brake fluid is recommended every 3 years. power steering fluid has no recommended interval(i'd do it every 3 years if you must). consider doing a brake inspection and service if they are ok(cleaning the brake pads/caliper bracket shims and cleaning&lubricating the caliper slide pins)

be sure to use a new trans drain plug crush washer. the 4 cyl. model can be refilled using the dipstick tube, the v6 has it's own fill hole(you can reuse that crush washer)

be sure to get the battery tested as a preventitive.

I know this is fundamental to most people here, but I appreciate the advice forthe new guy.

Great forum! I didn't know about thecrush washer on the trannie.I am not new to working on cars, but every car is different.

Since my wife'scar is barely 2 years old, I'll hold off on the brake fluid change, the front brakes were replaced by the dealer 3 months ago. I've decided to start taking care thiscarafter the dealer charged her $59.99on top of the oil change just to rotate the tires last time around.

I'll keep searching around since I see that there isa wealth of knowledge here.I just wasn't sure how diffferent the 06 model is.

$59.99 for tire rotation? are sure sure there wasn't a balancing involved? don't be put off by dealers because of that place. take it somewhere new, ask for an oil change(when do) and any free courtousy inspections they have. the service advisor will call you and inform you what the tech found and tell you call cost involved. if it's too high call around to other dealers and see what they have to say, compare.

Yeah, they balanced the tires and it was $69.95 for the balancing and rotation.I don't know why the wheelsneeded balancing, but the service advisor said that it was part of their recommended service.

I changed 3 quarts of the tranny fluid and it was a reddish brown color. Pretty easy to do.
Am I supposed to change the tranny fluid two more times right away, or should I wait a couple months and change out 3 more quarts?

you don't need to change the tranny fluid 3x unless it's dark brown. i'd simply change it every 15k once if you keep up with it.

if they balanced the tires that's fairly cheap. but unless you were having a steering wheel shaking condition at highway speeds it was pointless to do..
