Default '07' clutch pedal noise

Our Accord has 82,000 miles on it and recently the clutch pedal started "creaking" when pushed in and left out. There are also times that it actually "clicks" at two places in its travel while going in and coming back out which can actually be felt in my foot. It doesn't bind at all and all looks well from the inside of the car although the noise seems to be coming from that plunger like looking part that goes through the firewall. It looks like it had grease on it at one time and was wondering if I should add some lube. Looked like a clear grease. I also noticed that when the clutch is not depressed that there is a little play (looseness) in the plunger. I wonder if something needs adjusted as well? Anyone with any clutch tips?

Thanks,
Scott

A little clutch play at the top is a good thing. It means the clutch master cylinder is completely unloaded allowing clutch plate to fully close.

The squeaking/clicking is likely the hinge bushing has inadequate lube. Getting the lube where it needs to be can be difficult. It may be necessary to release the clutch pedal to properly lubricate.

I'm at office and don't have my shop manual which would provide some additional guidance.

If you don't have a shop manual check automanualsource on ebay for an e-manual for your vehicle. It's a 2003-2007 manual. Someone posted a link for a "free download" here recently, but I've learned that free downloads may include a lot of unwanted baggage.

good luck

OK, thank you for your help. I wanted to get a manual for the car anyway. I was hoping I was on the right track with the lube and it would be a maintenance issue. Thanks again.

I have ordered my manual from them but unfortunately I am having a difficulty downloading it because we only have access to dial up and do not have high speed internet where we live. My wife is going to try and download it at her job and save it to a jump drive and bring it home to download on our computer.

I was wondering if someone could tell me how to lubricate the clutch and what kind of lube to use? This thing has needed lubricated for weeks and we drive the car daily. I'd like to get the job done.

Thanks,
Scott

Shop manual does not indicate necessity to disassemble clutch hinge to lube. Lube is multi-purpose grease. Getting to it may be a challenge.

good luck
