Default 07 Exl blows cold for passenger, not driver

My exl Accord has separate temperature settings for the driver and passenger side. I know the air conditioner is working, but it isn't working for the driver. The driver side temperature setting can be either the same as the passenger side or colder, and the we get cool air blowing on the passenger side, but ambient on the driver side. Any ideas?

It may be the cluster assembly has failed. Do you have the NAV option?

A common failure that causes your symptoms is the air mix motor (driver's side, there are two). If you go under the dash and adjust the air temp setting from min temp to max temp, the air mix motor should move smoothly move between settings. Yours may be stuck in one position.

If confirmed fix is a new motor or repair old motor (see youtube video by froggy). Fix is a bit tricky to implement.

good luck

Honda had info. that an indicator of low refrigerant is when the left dashboard vent is warmer than the right one, with the A/C on. When that happens, the evaporator core isn't being flooded with enough liquid refrigerant, causing it to fully vaporize halfway through the core. As a result, the side of the core with some refrigerant (the right side) stays cold, while the side that's fully vaporized (the driver's duct) is warmer by about 20 degrees (or more in some cases).

Redbull-1 must have been right. Not long after the AC stopped working on both sides. A simple recharge brought the whole system back. Now to find the tiny leak ....

(new compressor installed last year)
