1993 LX engine cranks - won't start !!!
Swapped engine, got gas in fuel rail, spark in plugs. Changed timing belt and am 99.9 percent sure all the marks are correct. Had touse oldwiring harness, and my distributor and coil from old engine. Where do I start now ???

Okay, I'm in time. Put fuel in the cylinders and it started. Right on Jim!!! Tried the old cars rail and pressure regulator, still not getting fuel to cylinders. Drove the car to the garage (3 miles) so I figure anything from the old engine is fine.Fuel pump seems to be working, so what now? Injectors, or do I have a vacuum line or electrical connection wrong? Maybe a bad sensor? BTW I admit I am not a mechanic but me and the kid are not giving up!!!

Describe that REALLY BAD smell. Some people would say good fresh gas smells really bad anyway...
After you put gas in the cylinders, did it continue to run? Must have, or else how did you drive it to the garage...
If it DID run, then somehow the injectors must be OK. Putting fuel in would only allow it to run for maybe 10 seconds.
If you want to check the power to the injectors, be aware that its like this...
Each injector has 2 wires, one of which is the same color for all 4 injectors. THAT wire is supposed to have battery voltage all the time (when the ignition is on). The ECU switches the ground side of the circuit. If you do any electrical work, its like putting the switch on the common, instead of putting it on the hot wire.
How about fresh spark plugs? I once had a problem that flooded the enigne (89 Saab, but sparkplugs are sparkplugs). After I fixed the original problem I couldnt get it to start. The plugs were not very old, & they looked real nice & clean. So I was too stubborn (cheap) to waste new plugs. After getting reamed by my wife for being a cheap***, I put in new plugs. Started right up...
