1993 LX knocking sound when wheel turned slightly to left
Hey,
Im hearing a hard knocking sound on front drivers side when my wheel is about a quarter turned to the left, but not when straight or fully turned. Had a friend look but frankly I don't think they knew what to look for. Any ideas where I should start? Really appreciate any feedback!

For a quick simple inspection: Turn on the car, turn the steering wheel almost all the way to one side, turn off the car. Visually inspect the rubber boot around the CV joint for rips, tears, grease, etc. Now, turn the steering wheel the opposite direction almost all the way, and inspect the other side of the CV joint and rubber boot.
But, even if you can't visually tell anything is wrong, it may be the CV axle shaft needs replacement.

Put the front of the car on jackstands. Turn the steering wheel until it locks.
Grab each tire and try to push/pull at 3/9 o'clock. Do the same for 12/6 o'clock. There should be very little movement in the tire when you do this. If you have an assistant, have them hold the steering wheel and then you should have no movement.
If there is movement, try to find the source. 3/9 movement would be tie rod endlinks. 12/6 could be upper/lower ball joint movement.
Also, has any work been done on your car recently?
