1994 Accord EX Heater problem
Hi everyone I have an Accord EX 94 with about 125k miles my heat is blowing but not hot enough. My temp gauge is fine just below 1/2. Top and bottom rad hoses tight and hot. Heater core pipes not hot to the touch.
I check the heater valve it wasnt opening and closing properly so I turned it all the open and closed by hand.
Questions:
1. I will have to take off the temp control panel to see why its not moving the cable. Any sugguestions?
1. Do I need to let the car run with the heat on much longer then about 15mins after even with the car at normal temp.
2. Does this sound like a clog. What steps can I take to flush it?
3. Does this sound like I need to replace the Heater Core?
Thanks

When you opened the valve by hand, did the heater get hot? If not, then maybe it's clogged in addition to the broken cable.
There's 2 cables. One from the control down to the heater box at passenger's feet. Maybe have to remove some panels to see it. That cable moves some air dampers.
Second cable starts from there & goes out to the water valve on the heater hose. Look in passenger footwell, towards center console. See if you can see movement of cables & levers when you move the temperature control. If the 1st cable is broken, then the air dampers can be stuck in the "cold" position so it still won't work when you move the water valve by hand.
This belongs in General Tech, so I'll move it.
