Default 1994 accord vtec noisy engine

this is the first accord of this generation that i have owned or anything with a vtec. The engine seems to be somewhat noisy along with a constant ticking sound wether its cold or warm. The ticking does quiet down after a bit but does not totally go away.I know its nothing major internal but its a lot noisier than all the other hondas or non hondas ive owned. At highway speeds, it quiets down and the ticking is not noticeable.

Is this normal on these types of motors? Ive replaced the header gasket, and inspected the exhaust for leaks and its pretty intact.

i have heard from many that a valve adgustment sometimes makes the ticking louder. If this is true, does he ticking eventually go away? How much does the dealership charge for this? Thanks

there is a great writeup in the DIY section on how to do your own valve adjustment. If you wanted to pay a dealership to do it I'd guess it's around $100.00... Never heard of it making the ticking noise louder.... also, have you checked your oil recently?
