1994 Honda Accord M.T. Shift Fork Clip Loose. How To Fix?
Hey all,
I have a problem. I just finished swapping my old trans out for a new one (btw, I attached a pic of it below!) and I made a horrific realization. I think that the shift fork clip may be loose. In case you don't know, here's how its set up: There is a small metal wire clip that holds the shift fork to the ball hinge that allows the fork to return to normal position.
Anyway, is there any way to reattach the clip without having to disassemble the whole trans again? I really hope so, because putting that trans in place without a cherry picker is a real joke.

lol...the old one! I just posted it because I thought it was an interesting picture. But anyway, the shift fork clip I "think" is loose. I'm not 100% sure, but maybe you could tell me jsut how much play there should be?
If it is loose, how can I re-clip it without disassembling everything?

That spring clip looks like it wraps around the ball, so you can't actually get it out. But maybe you can move it??
Exactly what loose motion are you worried about? I think it's supposed to be able to move around a bit. The spring inside the slave cylinder will push the fork over against the ball. It seems like the only job for that spring clip is to hold it in place during assembly, until you get the slave cylinder installed.
