Best guess is these are the heater hoses bringing hot coolant to the heater unit inside the car. To get a better idea, trace each hose and find where it connects at the other end. If it is a heater hose, then one of those two hoses entering the firewall will connect to a valve controlled by turning the temperature **** inside the car to controll coolant flow.

Understood. If those hoses are leaking with the heat shut off, you will loose coolant and could potentially have the engine overheat. Just inspect when the engine is warmed up for leaks. I'd replace in the near future as overheating the engine can turn into an expensive repair (head gasket and cylinder head machining). Keep an eye on your coolan level in the radiator when the engine is cold.
You can price out the prebent hoses at the parts stores. The prebent are better for routing vs the cheaper flexible hose that could get kinked or want to rest against something hot like the engine block.
