As stated, the absence of any sound from a starter that works fine intermittently strongly suggests the starter signal from keyswitch is missing. The possibilities are faulty ignition keyswitch assy (electrical part), wiring fault, connector fault, or alarm relay not closing (bad relay, alarm).

Someone will need to trace the starter signal from keyswitch to starter to find the fault.

good luck

Well I have had the car back from the shop now a few days and have been checking everything I know to check on my own. After I got it back from the shop the issue has gotten worse and now regularly won't start. I noticed today with the hood open and my wife trying to start that there is definitely a double click sound after the key is turned with no start and it doesn't seem, to be coming from the starter. This happens at the same time the fuel pump primes so ignition selection 2. Not sure if this is normal or not.

Also where would the alarm relay be located, I did not see it under the dash but there are also so many relays in there I could be staring right at it.

Thanks again for your help.

So the starter is not doing anything when you turn the key to start the car?

It does nothing at all, and then on one of many cranks it will start up like nothing was ever an issue.

You need to find out if you are getting 12V to the small wire going to the starter. There are two ways to do this.

Have an assistant try to start the car. Use a volt meter to see if there is voltage.

You can connect a 12V test light to the small post, then ground the other end. If you use a long enough wire, you can see if the light turns on when the car starts or doesn't start.

The dual clicks are normal. It is the MFR enabling the fuel pump and injectors.

Tracing missing starter signal is where to begin as PA describes. If no signal at starter check at the steering column and at the alarm relay. Somewhere there is a faulty part or wire.

good luck
