1997 Accord Keyless Problem - Need Help
Hello,
I recently bought a 1997 accord few days back. The alarm went off last night without any reason.
1) I dont use the Keyless Remote to lock or unlock the vehicle - this was mentioned by the seller that
the passenger side front door wont unlock or lock with the keyless.
2) i had disabled the alarm by holding the Lock & Unlock Button for few seconds. (as its connected with the
horn & its very loud).
SO when i lock the car with the key - after i remove the key - there is a sound that seems like
the car is attempting to lock or unlock itself without any activity from me. And the alarm went off
all of a sudden.
I m not worried about disabling the alarm as there is nothin to steal from the vehicle. But i am worried
the battery might die if the alarm triggers again. Whats wrong with the car ? what needs to be checked?
Please Help..

Try holding the Panic button and then disabling it by pressing the Unlock (top) button. If you really want to you could remove the whole alarm system from the car... but with the door locking, does it sound like a grinding when the power lock is activated on the passenger door? If so, it's most likely the door lock actuator.
Also, the alarm will not drain your battery. It is programmed to shut off the siren after 60 seconds, re-lock itself, and disable the starter.
There is also an auto-lock feature which might be why the alarm went off after you locked the door with the key. The alarm module is located under the driver seat and has switches to change settings and sensitivity.

Are you sure? It's a little black box bolted to the underside of the seat. That's where it was on my 95... it is the Honda alarm system right? With the 3-button rectangular black remote?
