tasauto : rear mount = $243.95, the one i got from ebay: $38.90
I guess it all makes sense now. The 2 mounts look identical but are obviously not.
Moral of the story : stick with oem parts.
Thank you PAhonda for your help, i appreciate it.

This makes some sense. The function of the hydraulic dampner is to increase dampening at idle, compared to higher engine speeds. If mount is too stiff, the increased dampening will have no effect.

I have a similar system on an Acura 2.5TL, which has a very smooth idle. I experimented by disabling the vacuum actuation to see what the effect would be and could not discern any difference.

I believe there was a recent post on replacing all motor mounts to cure idle vibration. Find Finch13's search engine and look for that post.

good luck

problem with the ebay mounts is you have no idea what you are buying, i would put a honda part in the rear as it is so hard to change. i did the same thing with the same result.

Bill Kay Honda of Dallas had slightly cheaper, $217. See following link. Problem is the mount may not be the solution. A used mount might be a way to try out, but time to install is the problem if used mount was also bad. I've never had to replace this component in either Accord's I've owned (90EX had 260k miles when sold, and 94EX has 225K miles currently). So a used part may be a good bet, if money is an issue.

I will try tmrw with a used mount i have, it's from a M/T accord, meaning it's slightly different and it doesnt have the damper built-in.
What i know is that it's an original part and it feels less stiff than the ebay mount.

If the vibrations disappear, then, i'll order a honda A/T rear mount or maybe i'll just keep the M/T mount and disable the solenoid.

Installing shouldn't be too hard now, it's only hard the first time you do it
I figured out the easiest way is to get the mount out from the top, it usually involves pushing aside the cabin heater bypass hoses, then i slide the mount against the firewall and to the left then i can lift it up, no need to remove the intake manifold or anyhting else.
I did it this morning and it took less than 30 minutes to remove the mount.

I'll keep u updated.

Thank you all.

MT doesn't need the dampner because you never have engine idling w/ transmission load on the engine. That's where vibration is usually most noticeable w/ auto. If idle smooths out substantially, you've found the fix.

good luck

With the vacuum-controlled mount, you should check its operation like this...

Engine all warmed up.
Idling with tranny IN GEAR (hold the brake).
Unplug the electrical plug on the solenoid valve for that mount.
There should be a big change in vibration felt by the driver.

It may bea wiring problem- maybe it fails to energize that solenoid when it should??

The solenoid works perfectly, i tested it as you said and also using a small bulb, the current flows only with rpm below 700-800.

I removed the ebay mount today, the damn thing is hard like a rock.

I put the used M/T mount and guess what, no more vibrations, even under trans load, u can barely feel it under trans load + A/C.

I am upset at myself because i saw today dozens of used OEM rear mounts on ebay that sell for around 20 bucks.
I can't return the crappy mount that i bought because i am in europe and shipping costs are higher than the value of the mount itself.

Finding A/T mounts is nearly impossible here since most cars are M/T.

Anyway, the good news is that the vibrations are gone, i will wait until i need to buy something else for the car and then i'll order a mount and ship everything together.

Thank you guys so much.

Hey, if it works with a manual-trans mount, GREAT. I have a feeling that the vacuum-controlled mount is used because many USA drivers would be horrified at the thought that there is an actual spinning ENGINE somewhere in the car.

Thanks for the follow-up. It's good to know the ebay mounts are not a good purchase. I've seen them but never had a reason to buy one. Your post adds to the pool of knowledge.
