Default 1998 accord engine dies while driving.

I have a 1998 accord. 205xxx miles. Problem is two fold. If it rains or is damp it is very hard to start. If it has rained, the engine and power drop out randomly while driving. If you attempt to start it right away it will fire and almost start but drop back out. Tried wiggling the key and that does not affect it. Thinking its a wiring issue of some sort. New plugs 4-5 years ago. Idles fine. Battery terminals are clean.

Usually w/ hard starts in wet/damp conditions, the problem is loss of spark to spark plugs. Problem can be cracked distributor cap or rotor or faulty spark plug wires.

Spray engine distributor and spark plug wires thoroughly w/ water spray to simulate damp conditions and look for sparks at night w/ low light conditions. You may see sparks jumping from spark plug wires or distributor cap to ground. Replace as indicated.

New plugs may be indicated depending on mileage and type of plug. Some plugs will last > 5 yrs (platinum tips).

good luck
