1999 Honda Accord LX Stalls In Gear!
Ok, I just sold a 1997 Honda Accord because of transmission trouble, and I bought a 1999 Honda Accord, and now somethings wrong with it. Ok here goes...
1999 Honda Accord Coupe LX, 220,000 miles, 4 cylinder, v-tech motor.
I noticed right after I bought it that the engine was jerking a bit but not very much and not very often, but about 2 days ago on my way home from work (about 5 min drive) it started making a funky sound, like a cross between grinding and loud humming mostly when braking/slow speeds, well today it took a MAJOR turn for the worse, you can crank it up, it runs fine, but as SOON as u put it in either drive or reverse it will sputter and die very ruffly. I had it looked at and the guy said it was a bad ignition switch but after talking to some other people they say thats very unlikely because you can wiggle the key and its fine and when it dies all the dash lights come on like they are supposed to. I dont know what work or if any has been done to the car. To get it home today (about a mile) my boyfriend had to push the car while it was in neutral and I had to stick it in drive really fast and take off, once you get to an ok speed (about 20-25) its ok but if you slow down it will sputter and it sputters when you speed up from a slow speed. Please help!
