2000 Accord V6 Transmission Question

RE: 2000 Accord V6 Transmission Question
Good luck with the transmission. Just an FYI on it. If you ever do lose your transmission, there was a class action lawsuit that forced honda to extend the warranty on the 98-01 V6 transmission to 109,000 miles. The dealership should replace it for free if it needs it.

^^^ that was 109 or 7 years ..... I've been through that one. Also, it goes by delivery, so an '00 would probably be over 8 years by now .... my was originally delivered in Sept. '99

RE: 2000 Accord V6 Transmission Question
I searched around for the Honda transmision class action settlement and found this site:
http://www.hondatransmissionsettlement.com/
My car's VIN is included in the settlement, but unfortunately the car is older than the 7 years, 9 months for the extended settlement warranty. Oh well. I read some other forums that said that Honda might give you a free replacement tranny (minus labor) even though you are not under warrenty if you complain loudly enough. I have no idea if this is true.
My tranny has not actually died yet. So maybe with frequent ATF changes I can limp along until it is convenient to sell the car. I bought this car as an older used model specifically because of its reputation for reliabliltiy. A major tranny repair would cost about 1/3 of the value of the car! This is the first car I have ever bought with an automatic. All future cars that I buy will have 3 pedals....
