2002 Accord LX Shifter Button/Ignition Key Lock
I replaced the broken shifter button and spring assembly on my 2002 Accord LX (automatic) but when I put the handle back on I'm unable to remove the ignition key. If I remove the screws holding the handle on and pull it up a bit I can then rotate the key all the back and remove it. It's as though the pin that comes up through the handle is getting pushed down slightly when then handle is put back on. I have tried two button assemblies with the same results and made certain that the notch in the pin is facing the drivers side. Am I missing something?

Based on your description, something is not correct with the park pin switch. I would suggest purchasing the 98-02 shop manual from a site like automanualsource.com for ~$22. It is definitely worth the investment. Follow the shifter installation instructions as they are pretty detailed to make sure your shifter is aligned properly.
The other route you can try is doing some electrical testing for power/ground/continuity to ensure your wiring is intact. A volt meter and a test light along with some basic electrical knowledge can help figure out why the key interlock isn't releasing the key.
