Default 2002 Accord valve rattle

02' accord V6 w/142000 mile. Took to dealer to repair leaking oil pan gasket. Got car back and it continued to leak for 4 days then it stopped leaking and developed a loud valve rattle. Checked the dip stick and discovered the crankcase was overfilled (about 3/8 inch above max). I plan on replacing the filter to get the oil to the correct level. Could the overfill condition have anything to do with the valve rattle?

Overfilled a little shouldn't make the valve rattle, but i could be wrong, but after you get the car back from the dealer and it was still leaking you should take it back to them and have them look at it.

Drove it about 100 miles after oil pan repair. Didn't take it back immediatly since it was the weekend. But did take it back and they said it wasn't overfilled (its 3/8 inch over the top hole in the dipstick) and that the valve rattle is unrelated. Lose faith in them when they said it wasn't overfilled I know how to read a dipstick. Just wondering if the overfill could in some way cause the valve rattle. I'm going to replace the filter tomorrow that should get the oil level where it should be.

If you are going to replace the oil filter, then just drain the oil into a new drain pan, measure and refill it to the proper level per Honda Owners Manual specs. That would confirm the overfill by the dealer. Drain the oil filter out as well to be accurate.

Replaced the filter and the oil level is now correct, vlves are still rattling. Drove it 60 miles with no temp flucations or warning lights. I'm thinking it just needs the valves adjusted. Any thoughts?
