Well I'm a manual-trans guy so not an expert on auto. But I think getting rid of old dirty fluid in there is more likely to help things.

We'll see if any auto-trans guys chime in.

You can find anecdotal evidence for just about any position. I have never seen anything to suggest that drain/refill will damage a working transmission. If you're already having problems and perform a drain/replace, to be followed by failure of the transmission, it is not an indictment of transmission service.

ATF fluid is circulated very fast iin transmission. You will empty the reservoir (2-3 qts) in less than 30 secs. So once you're driving the fluid is rotated into/out of the torque converter frequently, where it get very thoroughly mixed. I would think a 5-10 minute drive will blend old/new fluid completely. It won't hurt to drive 50-100 miles before another drain/swap.

good luck

Thanks Texas! I will try to do another drain and refill asap. Just feel some slipping when car shift. And, I am wondering, I feel that my car slipping worse in cold weather(before the engine totally warmed up). is this normal?

So, adlerrogers, your 02 honda also had the CEL problem? How did you fix it? I am thinking of checking and cleaning the fuel injector and checking the wiring of my 02 sensor. But on the internet, they said a cleaning injector system(machine) is needed for this work. Anyone know that machine is necessary or not?

As far as cleaning the injectors, I'd get a bottle of Chevron Techron (or your favorite brand of stuff) and pour into the fuel tank. It's getting more & more rare for injectors to actually need more than that.

Hi I have a 2002 Honda Accord EX with 280,000 I have kept this car in immaculate shape and as i was driving yesterday my check engine light came on. I checked to see if I was low on oil because this had happened to me before but than again it has been like 3 or 4 months since i got an oil change. i was low on oil so I added oil which I always use 5W-20. The light still has not gone off. Any suggestions?

Many parts stores will check the codes for free. Get the actual code (not their description), it will begin with "P" and then four digits.

And let us know whether it's a V-6 or 4-cyl; also automatic/manual transmission.
