So im sure my trany is starting to slip. I have 102k on her and never had tranny fluid changed so is that contributing to problem or 102k is about when unmaintained trannys will go. Will flushing amd replacing fluid help or am i screwed. Any recommendations on tranny shops in chicago. Thanks in advance. I asked dealer bout the tranny recall he says my car didnt have recall based on Vin. That bull**** or perhaps right. How do I confirm.

So interesting enough the Honda website says no recall on the transmission. According to the ALLDATA mechanics bible cars with VIN no.s 4A000001 thru 4A030387 should have been recalled mine VIN is 28606. The recall is supposed to be adding a oil jet kit to help the 2nd gear stay lubed. My car doesnt have this oil kit.

Did your VIN match the other alpha/numbers listed, not just near the end?

 

If you mean does it start with 1HGCM66 and ends in between numbers...then yes.

 

The same Honda service bulletin included the following:

CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION
All owners of affected vehicles will be sent a
notification of this recall. There is a customer letter
example at the end of this bulletin.
Not all vehicles within the VIN ranges are affected by
this recall. Before starting work on a vehicle, make sure
it is eligible by checking for one or more of these items:
• The customer has a notification letter.
• The vehicle is listed on your campaign responsibility
report.
• The vehicle is noted as eligible on when you do a
VIN status inquiry on the interactive network (iN).

 

Well I got the tranny rebuilt. The tranny came out great but something happened along the way. Now my horn, cruise control and air bag light is on. One thing I do know is that the guy told me the steering rack popped off during removal/reinstall. A friend of mine a machanic of 30 years say that if the steering wheel wasnt locked the steering wheel could have spun like crazy break the clock spring. Does anyone here have any ideas if this is possible.

 

Your friend, the mechanic sounds right about the clock spring/cable reel being the issue.

 

So I discovered that the horn only works when I arm/lock the doors. I think this further proves something disconnected at the steering wheel. I brought this to monkey tranny mechanic and he says their seperate horns. One for alarm and one regular horn. This correct or is he blowing smoke up my *** as I suspect. So the wierd part is that the left side controls of steering wheel works but the right side the cruise will turn on but wont engage. This all related to the clock spring damage.

 

Both the steering wheel horn buttons and the security system uses the same horns.
