2005 EX V6 Brake Rotor Removal
I have question, yesterday I pulled the two front rotors off my 2005 Accord V6. I had to use a impact screw driver to remove the two little screws that are "holding" the rotors in place. I was wondering, is there really a need for those two screws? I have worked on other cars (i.e. Toyota Camry, Nissan Maxima, Mitsu Diamante) and the rotors simple come off after I remove the brake caliper. I almost decided not to replace the two screws but I thought other wise and thought I ask first. Aside from the two little screws, there is very little difference in the overall front disc brake design compared to the other cars I mentioned. Any input is much appreciated.
Thanks

you really do not need those 2 screws bacause the rotors are held in place by the wheel lug nuts ......But i have to always reinstall them being at a shop

Desert,
I spoke to another friend of mine who is mechanic. He told me the same thing, the screws dont need to be there. He did say is that they are used in the assembly line to keep things in place as the car is being built. I dont know how valid that info is. But the next time I have to remove the rotors, i am not going to put the screws back on. Thanks again Desert.

The clamping force from the wheel studs/nuts is far, far greater than those dinky little screws. They're just for convenience on theassembly line.
