2005 Honda Accord PO139 Fault Code
New member here - and I have searched the forum for answers before posting - but have not (don't think I have) got exactly what I need. I have 2 part question. 2005 Honda Accord - 4 cyl - engine light. Auto Zone and independent repair shop show code PO139 - Oxygen Sensor Bank 1 Sensor 2. Independent shop wants big dollars to replace. My 2 part question:
1) Can I do this myself? If so - can someone direct me to detailed instructions?
2) Auto Zone sold me a Bosch sensor that they said is the part - but I have read elsewhere that you do not want to use aftermarket parts for this - need Honda part. Can you advise on this as well?
Thanks in advance - I have scanned the forum and it appears there is a tremendous amount of great advice here to help Accord owners.

1) Yes, many folks install O2 sensors. There can be challenges; O2 sensor socket is special tool, but can be borrowed from Autozone and other sources, Sometimes special tool will not fit (not enough space) and a large open end wrench (19 mm or 3/4") is necessary. Also the O2 sensor can be very tight and may require heating and use of a hammer on wrench to break loose. Electrical connectors and connector supports can also be frustrating.
Check youtube videos for help. Suggest purchasing a manual ($22) from automanualsource.com to know location and have a detailed procedure.
2) Denso part (OEM I think) is generally acknowledged as preferable part brand for this item. check ebay (< $100).
good luck

It's the rear sensor, #31 in the picture. Picture is 4-door, but 2-door is almost the same.
The wire disappears through the floorpan of the car, and you have to unplug it underneath the passenger seat. Rubber grommet at the floor of the car can be seen in the picture, & *should* be large enough to pull the plug down through the hole.

Here are DIY instructions:
https://sites.google.com/site/hondar...-oxygen-sensor
To disconnect the oxygen sensor harness connectors, if you can, try to slide the harness connector off the body metal tab, then disconnect the male and female connectors.
