2006 Accord Interior lighting Issue
My 2006 Accord EXL has a problem with interior lights when opening the door. Only the right (passengers) side light comes on when the doors are opened. The left side light does not come on. However, I can press the button switch and the left side light comes on. I suspect that the module is bad. Any ideas?

Just trying to understand the situation better first. Opening any door does not cause the left side light to come on, or is it only with a specific door? It is only when you press the switch that it comes on, does it make a difference if you press the switches on different doors?

Okay, sounds like you are referring to the map/spot light on the overhead console. Some other Hondas had this same problem before. The general fix is to replace the base unit.
Honda part number 34404-SDA-A21 list price is $48.83, discount price at an on-line Honda dealer is $35.75 plus shipping. Local dealerships many times mark up over list price. However, if you want to go the local dealership route, check for on-line coupons for your specific dealership first.

You might want to enter your VIN or car info. on the Bernardi Honda parts website to confirm the part for your car. It is under Electrical, Interior Lights.

Item #12 is the ambient light module, which cost even more. It is most like a problem with #11, base. See these two threads:

These are the general steps to remove the roof console to get to it. Use a small flat-tip screwdriver with a shop towel or something to prevent scratches when prying the plastic lenses.
Note: Two of the 4 bolts are ground bolts.

I'm not sure if this will fix the problem, but it is worth a shot. Before you put the key in the ignition, push the light that is not working. Then turn on the key to see if both lights turn on.
I kind of remember doing something like this when I first got my TSX. I think that you can have only one light turn on when you open the door. You may want to take a look in the owner's manual for this information about the map lights.
