I recently bought an 07 EXL V6 and am frustrated with an off-idle vibration in the whole car (it'salmost certainly the engine). I feel it when Ijust start to accelerate, until the RPMs get above 2,000. I alsofeel it when I am just driving slowly through a parking lot/ramp. It's better when the A/C is not on, but still there. Any thoughts? Is this normal?

 

That doesn't sound normal especially for a new car. Just take it to the Honda dealer and have them look into it since it's still under warranty.

 

I have a 2007 Honda Accord LX V6 (same engine as yours) with 2,800 miles and I get vibration also. When accelerating from a full stop, the vibration is noticeable through the steering wheel. Once the car gets up to 2000 RPMs and the transmission shifts up, the vibration goes away. I considered this normal and haven't really thought too much about it .....

I hear that the V6 is already smoother and quieter than the I4 engine ...

When the A/C runs, then the car has much more vibrations and the occasional jerk.

How many miles does your car have? When I first bought the car, it had vibrations and the automatic transmission shifted very harshly. However, 2000 miles later, the engine has become smoother and the transmission is much more smooth in the shifts...

 

Thanks dknight211. It helps to hear it's normal and I suspect I notice it because the V6 is so smooth/silky otherwise. I have 1,000 miles on it, so it's relatively new. I'm glad to hear it smooths out with more miles. I took it in to the dealerfor something else (stereo issue) and have them looking at it today. I will let you know what they say - something tells me they'll say it's normal.

 

no vibrations on mine...i think it has 750mi

i do hear a rather loud clunk when the a/c kicks on though...something that isnt there in my SE. i will have the dealer look into that.

 

I think the occasional clunk and jerk when the A/C is on is normal. I've experienced it the 97 and 01 accord as well as the 04 civic.

 

Do these newer Hondas still use the vacuum operated engine mount at the firewall location for idle and off idle operation.

 

understood, but this is excessive. i have a fraternal twin in the driveway that doesnt do that, hence my concern.

 

How excessive are we talking about here? Is the clunk loud enough to make people wonder if something just broke?

 

have you taken it back to the dealer to find out what it is ??? ( WARRANTY ) If they say it is normal,, ask them to have the service manager to go on a test drive with you with another similar car they have on the lot to see if the noise is also there .......If noise is not there, then DEMAND that they fix your car
