Default 2009 Accord EXL Speedometer...

Folks, I've only had this car for a month and I've been pulled over 2X; the 1st time I was not given a ticket and the 2nd I was. But BOTH times the officers told me my speed was incredibly higher than what I saw on my dash when passing them. In fact, I didn't even slow down because no one gets pulled over for doing 6 or 7mph over the speed limit on the turnpike. but 18 MPH OVER?! I wasn't passing anyone like that and my cruise control was set at 76-77mph. I don't get it! Anyone know of any issues with these? Factory wheels and tires too. Nothing special. Completely stock vehicle.

I have not experienced or heard of any issues with the speedometer on the 8th generation Accords. My speedometer on my 2009 pretty much matches my Garmin GPS speed.

What size tires do you have on the car?

Thanks. Tires and wheels are Michelin OEM spec. And yes, still under warranty. Maybe i had a trooper that was just a complete bad-***? He was pretty upset when I told him he had to be mistaken since my cruise was set to 76/77 mph and there was NO way he could have clocked me doing 88. He gave me the usual BS about 21 years of duty, blah, blah. He said he was surprised i didn't even touch the brakes and that's when I told him it was because my cruise was set properly so I wouldn't. No one gets pulled over for 6 or 7 over on the turnpike. No one! (until now and they tell me I was doing 88) So, i was hoping to find something unusual about Honda cruise control and speedometers or whatever. I KNOW I was doing 76/77. I know I was not doing 88. There's a big difference in the feel of that car between the 2 and I would have passed everyone as if they were almost standing still yesterday.

Were you leading traffic or were you just going with the flow?

I'd borrow a GPS from a friend and take it to the highway to see if your speedometer is really off...

Hardly passing anyone. NOT 88 MPH. Last night my wife's cousin, a deputy here in the county, used a laser and we tried out 30, 40, 50, 60, and 70 mph and they were all dead on. AND, last night, I checked the FL turnpike auto-tolls, the sunpass charge times as I drove through the automated toll-booths, and the distance between them and calculated the speed between the two and it cane out to 78.1 mph on average with my cruise on. I think this guy just saw the 78 and thought 88 and whipped around. Thanks for your input everyone.
