HOWDY YALL
My name is Clayton and im new here. I wanted to ask a question as I've found very mixed answers on this and wanted to see if anyone had an answer to my query. i have a 2011 accord with the v6, it has bad piston rings and needs a over haul tbf it has 255k miles so i cant complain. Buti as of late don't have the time and tools to do a full rebuild rn so i was looking for a donor motor to possibly swap then rebuild it when i have time again. so i found a 09 odyssey that has some trans issue same 3.5 v6 as far as i can tell so i was wondering could i swap the engine or trans between the 2 it seems they are the same and as far as i can see they are the same. would the two be interchangeable? because to be honest removing the engine from the odyssey seems like a hassle so i would probably favor swaping the trans from the accord to the odyssey that way i can rebuild the engine and trans at a later time when i get back to my tools,. Any input would be immensely appreciated thank you and have a blessed day

 

A quick search on car-part.com for the 2011 accord transmissions that are identical are the 2011 and 2012 accord. For the engine (depending on the VIN) the 09-12 engines are the same.

So, are they a direct swap, no. The difference could be subtle like sensors used or swapping transmission/engine or various mounting brackets. I'm not sure on the transmission side if the gears are the same ratio.

You may want to see the cost on a low mileage engine from a 2011 accord that you can directly swap to see what it would run vs a rebuild. I'd request a compression and leakdown test to get an idea of the piston rings and valve condition on the replacement engine.
