Default 2012 doors not automatically unlocking

I ran into something and hope others might benefit from my discovery. I have my 2012 Coupe configured to unlock the doors when the shift lever is placed into Park. It became apparent that, under certain circumstances, the unlock signal was not being generated even though the shift lever was moved into Park. After doing some experimenting, I found that in order for the unlock signal to be generated, the brake pedal must be depressed while the shift lever is being placed into Park. Occasionally, my timing was just right and I was releasing the brake pedal just prior to shifting into Park. If the brake pedal is not depressed, the unlock signal will not be generated.

What you're stating is pretty much in the owner's manual regarding the need to depress the brake pedal if the setting is configured to unlock when shifted to Park.

You can program in different locking and unlocking sequences, refer to your owner's manual for the instructions.

Attached pic. shows the five possible unlocking settings.
