Yes, for the first test, he should measure the resistance on the distributor side terminal pins. For an LX (F22B2 engine), measure resistance between sensor terminals No. 2 (CYPP) and No. 4 (CYPM). Resistance should be 800-1500 ohms.

See post #19 for info. on additional checks.

There have been some cases, where it can also be due to a bad ignition coil.

CYP sensor resistance is measured on distributor side connector at the Orn and Wht wires.

If resistance measures good at distributor connector, reconnect the distributor to harness and make resistance measurement again at the ECM connector on same wire colors; connector B.

good luck

The CYP wires to measure resistance at the ECM are Black and Yellow. The C460 connector (31-P connector) at the ECM is considered Connector C.

Then it may be an issue with the CYP sensor. The CYP sensor is part of the distributor housing.

I'm also getting 391 ohms at the ECM connector.

So I'm guessing I need to get a new distributor w/CYP sensor? or am I checking something else first?

It sounds like the CYP sensor is bad. There are no other tests. The CYP wires going to/from the ECM sounds good.

RB, the 94-97 manual shows CYP resistance for 94 Accord as 350-700 ohms for F22B2. Do you have a different spec?

good luck

Some of the information in the free downloadable 96 Accord supplement is not entirely correct. Even the picture diagrams in that supplement showed the wrong distributor for the 96 (it is showing the 94-95 distributor). The Accord 96 4 cylinder was OBD II and the TDC/CKP sensors were no longer in the distributor for a 96 and 97.

See post #11 above for specs. and the link to another thread in that post. The OP in the other thread also seen the same specs. listed in the Haynes manual (post #17).

PAhonda also listed the same specs., post #2 in this thread. I was just adding some similar information, in additional to other information, in line with PAhonda.

Some of the free download shop manuals are for UK/Europe cars which might use a different distributor. So they might be correct for their intended audience.
