Default 5 speed tranny fluid change

My Accord has 151k on it, and at 160k I'll be doing a whole bunch of maintanence (plugs, valve adjust, coolant replacement, brake fluid replacement, etc.). The previous owner kept up with the maintanence of the car (I have all the receipts), and since I purchased it at 110k I've been diligent myself. I have no reason to expect less than 300k from the vehicle.

I can't find a record of the tranny fluid being changed. I know it does not need to be done often on a manual, but I think that at 160k the car will probably be past due. I read in the owner's manual that the car 'requires' Honda MTF. Is there any truth to this? I run Mobil1 tri-synthetic 5W-30 in the motor, and would like to run tri-syn 10W-30 in the transmission. I did a search on this site to find information about this, but found very little.

So what are your thoughts about putting Mobil1 synthetic into my transmission?

Also, it looks fairly easy to drain the transmission, but how can I fill it? Do I need a funnel with a long hose?

Thanks for the help!

It is best to run honda mtf it is probably the best fluid out there for honda's or gm synchromesh. There is a reason why they tell you to use it, it's because it was developed specifically for Honda transmissions. Also I believe at some point, I forget which year honda changed the tranny fluid from regular 5w30 to honda mtf. I believe all new honda's require it. My honda says to use 5w30 but I was started to get some grinding and switched to honda mtf and it's been great.
