84 tranny into 88 Accord - AXLES?

Hi!
I'm a total noob to this site, we have a 1984 accord, though I believe it was actually made in 83 and only registered in 84, and I need to change the CV joint boot on the front port side (It's right hand drive, so to to me it's the passenger side). The only manual we've managed to find seems to suggest that on anything other than a 4 wheel drive version you should leave these well enough alone and replace the whole shebang rather than tinkering with components. You can image how easy the whole assembly will be to get a hold of, so any advice anyone could offer would be great
Ok - classic noob mistake and didn;t read all the clearly signposted "read this before you post" stuff. I'll start a shiny new thread fo my rusty old problem.
