Default 90-93 tcu compatibility

I have a 90 accord tcu that needs to be replaced. I had a fried resistor and replaced it along with the capacitors but it didnt seem to fix the problem. I want to try changing the tcu. I am going to the wreckers where i can get them cheap. My question is does it have to have exactly the same part # or are the interchangable. I have a 28100-pxo-931-m1. Some guy I talked to who had one for sale claimed he interchanged them before with no problems but i dont know how much i trust him. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Lots of great info in that last link but it doesnt really seem to clarify if the tcus are interchangable

Just to let everyone know my resluts. I have a 90 accord 2 door ex that had a tcu 28100-pxo-931. I could not find a matching replacement so i tried a tcu from a 92 accord 4 dr dx. model 28100-px4-721. Pluggged it in and now all problems are solved and it runs perfectly. The only thing that has changed is the sport button no longer works which ius no big deal. It just shows being in sport mode all the time . Other than that no problems. Keep this in mind if you need to change your tcu.
