90 Accord LX - FITV - Just how well should it seal @op temp??
Should the FITV completely seal when at operating temperature?
The only guidance I've found is "little to no vacuum" should be felt at the lower port in the throttle body."
However, the FITV seems to be connected to upper port & that port has a pretty good vacuum regardless of engine temperature. Air boost valve has been deleted & if I remove the top cover of the FITV vacuum at this port dissappears.
After setting the idle with the bypass screw, if I block that port the engine eventually dies, so I'm assuming the FITV is bad. I have replaced the o-rings & screwed the ring down to no avail.
So is thing actually supposed to stop almost, if not all, of the air when at temp?? The valve & seat just don't seem to be conducive to sealing completely. Oh, and my idle is currently at 1500 when cold & ~750-800 when warm. Cold currently being ~55 degrees here in California.

My 95 accord had a similar setup. When I installed a new FITV, there was very little vacuum when I covered the port.
I can't remember how the ports are setup on the 4th generation accord. They may be reversed compared to the 5th gen accords. One port will feed the FITV and the other to the IACV. You may also want to trace where the air boost valve is pulling from. These will all pull air from somewhere in front of the throttle plate.
