it's most likely the motor due to the funny noise. if it just quit with no noise or worked on a certain setting, i would say electrical problem

here's the motor and all on ebay buy it now for $45.00 +shipping with a guarantee that it works, so about $60.00 and an hour or so of your time then you're good! (just put a space heater in the car off an extension cord while you work)

I agree with YeuEm here about the Blower Motor not being any good anymore..you could hot wire it direct from the battery just to see if it will work with direct power...

By the way

it is your blower motor. its not a hard job but it will be frustrating. take your glove box off there are two screws on the bottom and one on the side. then take the metal bar off behind it. pull back the carpet and take the computer out, 4 10mm nuts hold it to the floor pan. there are three electrical plugs on it be careful not to damage it. there is a metal band that connects the blower motor to the evap you only have to take the front part off there is a 10mm bolt on the top and a phillips on the bottom. then disconnect the plug to the evaporator and take off the three 10mm nuts that hold the blower motor on stick your hand behind the blower motor and pull the back down first. the back will come out first. when you put it back together it has to go in the exact way it came out. that band that goes around the blower and the evap HAS to be there. plan on that being the hardest part of the job. expect to spend 30 min getting back the way it was.

Wisconsin eh ?? i lived in madison for many moons so i know how critical the heater is,,,,,,,

Anyho try something........start the car, put the blower on,, give the blower motor a few good smacks with your hand see if it blows faster , if it does definately a motor,\

also there are 2 wires going to blower motor , unplug the connector and chk to see if you get power and ground at the motor if you get both ,, you got a bad motor
