Default 91 Accord ATF

I have a 91 Accord EX(see sig) and I was wondering about ATF replacement.

On the manual it says and i quote: "Use DEXTRON II type Automatic Transmission Fluid" No where in the manual does it say use Honda ATF or use Dextron II for temporary replacement.

I called the dealership and they said to use their Honda ATF and just use Dextron II just to get to the dealership. I called Autozone and they said i could just use Dextron III and above ATF and it would be fine.

So...should i just use Dextron? And if so can I use Valvoline Dextron III or 4 High Mileage?

Thanks in advance

Honda ATF came out after 1991. They also said it was retroactive to earlier AT accords.

I have never owned an automatic vehicle, so I don't know what you can substitute for Dextron II. I would probably use the Honda ATF if it was my car.

well the dealership wants a little over $8 per quart so if there is anyother place to get it at for cheaper i think i just might have to go with Dextron III.

I talked to the guys at autozone and read some forums...Dextron III is perfectly fine to use in Dextron II or lower AT. Its just an improvement over the the other Dextrons.

Thanks for you help
