Default 91 Accord bad ECT and TCM

91 honda accord lx bad ect & tcm. The car went into limp mode and we checked the code. The only code showing was a code 6. so we changed the ect we still had a check engine light on but no code. Checked the tcm there was a burnt resistor and puddling around some capicitors. So we changed the tcm cleared the codes and now the car runs better but only breifly and goes back into limp mode. We didn't change the cable on the ect but the temp in not over heating. Could the cable be bad and causing the car to go into limp mode. Or do you have another idea...Help if cable is bad how had is it to change.

Not sure I follow everything, but you mention the ECT sensor then you talk about the temp not overheating...?

The ECT provides temperature information to the ECM; it is a completely different sender for the dashboard temperature gauge. They don't "share" information. If the ECT sensor is bad, it can feed incorrect information to the ECM while the dashboard temperature gauge is just fine.
