92 accord starting problem
My 92 LX 5 speed has an intermittant starting problem. Once in a while it fails to start. You can come back later (minutes or hours) and it will start immediately. Once started everthing works normally and it will re-start after being turned off. I have changed plugs and ECU andchecked other ignition and fuel components. There are no ECU codes.
Does this sound familiar to anyone. Anybody have any ideas?

RE: 92 accord starting problem
Do a search for Main Fuel Relay. This is a constant source of failure to start problems for Hondas of all models and years as they share the same relay. Wonder why Honda doesn't try a different brand of relay besides Mitsuba?
Check the DiY section for tips.
good luck

RE: 92 accord starting problem
The number one problem with the main relay is loss of fuel pressure (pump), there are two relays built in the assy, one is for the fuel pump and it goes bad when the inside of the car is too hot, its really bad when the inside of the car is just warm, it almost never goes bad in the winter time. Not all Honda use the same part number so make sure you get the correct part when you pick one up.
Crack open the 12mm bolt on top of the fuel filter, no start on the engine and you will not get a good flow of fuel from this loosened bolt, bad relay. Under dash near steering column, hidding behind cruise control computer if you have one, look at new one to see what it looks like before tearing everything apart. Remove guts from outer grey housing to swap it out, no need to unbolt everything.
If this is not it then give better details.

RE: 92 accord starting problem
I'd like to thank all those who responded. I bought a new relay module & replaced it and hopefully thats the end of it. The relay is way up under the dash and awkward to get to. It's located under the cruise control module (which must be removed)and it's not easy for a large person (like me) to get to.
