Default 92 accord - won't start!

for a while now my car has been having a hard time starting. usually happens only when the engine has not been run for a couple hours. it started out with the engine not turning over and then eventually it would 'catch' and then 'stutter' for a second or two before starting.today i went out to start my car and the engine just wouldn't turn over at all. i waited about thirty seconds and tried again and eventually it started and i had no problems the next couple times after leaving the car off for 10 minutes or less. i noticed i had more of a problem in the colder months when there was less fuel in the tank, however today when it wouldn't start i did have a full tank of gas. not sure if its anything fuel related or not, hopefully someone can help me narrow down the problem!

car is a 92 accord LX (canadian)4 door, 5 speed

thanks in advance!!

Is the starter turning the engine when you try to start it?

Is your check engine light on at all?

Starting problems are from a lack of spark or lack of fuel.

Are the spark plugs, dist. cap, dist. rotor, and wires fairly new?

Check that all ends of the battery cables are clean and secure. Also, when the car is running spray a mist of water from a windex bottle on the wires, if you see the spark arching, the wires need changed. You should do this at night to see the spark arc better.

it is definitely not the distributor. it was entirely replaced a couple years ago with a brand new OEM distributor. i'm not sure the age of the plugs & wires but the wires do look kind of old. i will try that trick later tonight.

any other suggestions?
