'92 LX Bogs, Dogs and Hesitates
Greetings!
I have been an avid reader of this forum and finally, after exhausting all of the threads I could, decided to post my trouble and request your input.
I have been working on my daughter's 1992 LX 2.2L 4cyl. Auto. She informed me that the car was hesitating and she was having difficulty driving it home the other day.
Upon my test drive I have found the following issues:
The issues are there with the engine hot or cold.
No fault codes appear currently
I need to get this beast back on the road so I can get my MDX back out of a kid's hands!
Please let me know if you have any suggestions. I'm stumped!
Thanks in advance!

I have been working on my daughter's 1992 LX 2.2L 4cyl. Auto. She informed me that the car was hesitating and she was having difficulty driving it home the other day.
Upon my test drive I have found the following issues:
- Idles OK but quite low rpm
- Even the slightest attempt at acceleration will cause massive hesitation, backfire or stall
- Sometimes I can "gingerly" pump the accelerator and get the revs up over 2000 rpm and rev the engine
- Check engine light has been on for "years" indicating O2 sensor fault.
- Replaced plugs, wires, rotor, cap, fuel filter, valve cover gasket and plug tube seals
- Replaced the O2 sensor in the cat converter and cleared the code
- Removed EGR passage plugs and cleaned passages (not completely plugged but dirty)
- Replaced air filter
- cleaned IACV screen (was very dirty)
The issues are there with the engine hot or cold.
No fault codes appear currently

This is my first post/thread. I have read through many posts looking for a solution but may have missed your previous answer. Sorry about that. Thank you for the suggestion Poorman212. I'll give it a short this weekend. Could I tell if the cat was plugged by the tail pipe pressure? I recently had a local mechanic diagnose the O2 sensor issue and replace it. He said, at that time, that there was "no back pressure and the cat was fine".
I would feel better testing it myself.
Thanks again for your help!
