Default 93 Accord (obd2) code 9 reading

my check engine light came on, so i tested it and got a code 9. i bought a new distributor and replaced it, and it seems to be running smoother, but i am still getting a code 9 on my check engine light. does anyone have any tips or ideas as to what could be wrong? thank you.

I had very much the same experience, Code 9, replaced distributor and code 9 remained. If you read the diagnostics for this code, you check the resistance of the distirbutor sensor.

If you check the resistance and it's acceptable (350-700 ohms for B1 and 700-1300 ohms for B2), then a further check is indicated from the ECU connector under dash behind passenger's foot carpet. You will need a shop manual to get the right connector and wire color.

If resistance checks OK at the ECU, then a new ECU is likely necessary. Check car-part.com for a used unit near your zip code.

This is what I found and had to replace ECU to fix.

good luck
