Default 93 Accord Timing Belt Tensioner

Hello everybody
I really need some assistance on setting the proper tension on the timing and balancer belts. I replaced the belts, oil pump and seals, and now as I am putting it back together I cannot get the tensioner to apply tension to the belts. Keep in mind that I removed the tensioners and as I put it all together I tried the adjustment procedure where you tighten the tensioner rotate crank 3 teeth counter clockwise on cam but I end up with lots of slack on intake side of belt. I did this several times and still have slack. I am lost on what to do next or what to check for. Anybody run into this before? Any help is much appreciated. Thanks

Read the warning in DIY forum on engaging tensioner reaction hole to stud on oil pump cover face behind tensioner.

https://www.hondaaccordforum.com/for...warning-22046/

Also did you install a 6mm bolt to hold the tensioner in slack position? This bolt must be removed after belt installation.

Check following thread for details of tensioning procedure.

You should have your own reference manual. There are download links in DIY forum for a Accord manual that works for your model (90-93 Accord).

Moved posts to correct forum for additional responses.

Your right texashonda, it turns out that the tensioner was not aligned in the pivot stud. Good call on that one. Now to put everything back together and hope that was the only problem I had...
